I am passionate about building community around the challenges and joys of teaching and learning, building capacity in our faculty to achieve their teaching and learning goals in rewarding and sustainable ways, and fostering creativity so that all faculty are empowered to innovate and inspire in the classroom. As a leader in educational development, I believe the foundational unit of change is dialogue. I seek to lead transformative conversations in my programs and consultations, and especially as a facilitator of departmental retreats, strategic planning projects, and curricular change conversations.

I also model this belief in the power of conversation in my leadership roles as Vice Chair of the Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Developer Consortium, Co-Chair of the POD Network’s Digital Resources and Innovation committee, and Co-Host of Centering Centers: the POD Network podcast. My approach to educational development is rooted in a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. My educational development research focuses on the use of storytelling to create “backstage conversations” and the use of playful pedagogy (and the pedagogy of plays) to inspire joyful, generative change at every level of the institution.
