LeighAnn Tomaswick is the Innovation Learning Design Specialist at the Center for Teaching & Learning. She completed her BS in Biochemistry, MS in Chemistry and A Masters in Curriculum, Instruction & Teacher Education. She has worked with graduate students, post doctoral fellows and faculty for over 10 years to help create learning environments that not only increase student learning gains and satisfaction but also improve the experience of the instructors as well. She helps keep the active learning classroom available through CTL running, leads the innovation intersession: flipping your classroom (4 week intensive workshop series), and regularly has conversations with instructors regarding digital tools, engaging students in the classroom, different assignments, and assessment techniques for their classrooms. LeighAnn uses the literature on how people learn and the scholarship of teaching & learning (best-practices) to influence all that she does.
