Flower Darby is an adjunct faculty member at Northern Arizona University, where she has taught for over 25 years. She is also a doctoral student at NAU and adjunct faculty for Estrella Mountain Community College. Flower teaches online, blended and in-person courses in a range of subjects: English literature, composition, technology, education, leadership, dance and fitness. She regularly writes and presents nationally and internationally on excellence in teaching and learning design. She is zealous in her promotion of student success through effective classroom practice, whether the classroom is physical or online. Flower is the lead author, with James M. Lang, of  Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes. She also contributes columns to the Chronicle of Higher Education and Times Higher Ed. Her new book project is on emotion science and teaching with technology, and she is co-authoring an equity-minded teaching guide with Isis Artze-Vega, Imad Mays, and Bryan Dewsbury, to be published by W. W. Norton.
